USC Greek Organizations Raise Over $10,000 in Support of the LA Regional Food Bank

Sororities and fraternities on USC’s Greek Row joined forces for Row Fest, a fundraiser supporting the Food Bank.

Without the generous support from the community, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank would have a tough time working towards its vision that no one goes hungry in LA County. Whether it’s through donating time, food or financial support, each donation goes a long way towards helping the hundreds of thousands of individuals who seek food assistance from the Food Bank each month.

Before the Holiday season, sororities and fraternities on Greek Row at the University of Southern California (USC) joined forces for Row Fest, a fundraiser to support the Food Bank. From November 4 through November 8, Greek organizations held several fundraising events, such as battle of the bands and sports tournaments, to help raise money for those suffering from food insecurity.*

By the end of the week-long fest, the Greek organizations had raised a total of $10,580 through their fundraising campaign on the Food Bank’s WeFeedLA platform

“It’s fun to pie the president, but in the back of your mind, you know the money’s going to the Food Bank, so that’s why people were coming,” said Marguerite Larson, sorority Delta Gamma’s head of philanthropy and Row Fest delegate, to the USC Annenberg Media

Earlier this year, House of Victory’s USC student-athletes joined forces with the Food Bank and volunteered over 100 hours to help glean, sort and organize around 58,000 pounds of food for our neighbors. Read more on USC’s student-athletes volunteer efforts>

Making a difference in your community doesn’t take a lot of time or money. If you plan to donate time, with just three hours of your day, you’ll help sort, glean, pack and distribute food items that can change someone’s life. Tens of thousands of volunteers choose to volunteer at the Food Bank, and you can volunteer, too. Visit our Volunteer page for more information

As proven by USC’s Greek organizations, virtual fundraisers can be a fun way to get friends, families and colleagues involved in fighting hunger. Starting a fundraiser is easy and simple. Learn more about starting your own We Feed LA fundraiser>

On behalf of the LA Regional Food Bank, its partner agencies and food recipients, we thank the USC Greek organizations for their support in fighting hunger in LA County. Together, We Feed LA.
