In Los Angeles County, many families and individuals continue to feel the burden of nutrition insecurity. In a recent study by the University of Southern California Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, research showed that while food insecurity in Los Angeles County decreased 5% in comparison to 2023 findings, nutrition insecurity elevated to 29%. While the rate of food-insecure households dropped to 25%, compared to 30% in 2023, it is still above the national average of 14%, based on pre-pandemic levels.Â
Organizations like the RJC Foundation, a partner agency of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, are stepping in to make a difference—providing more than food, but also dignity, relief and hope.
For Elvia, the support she receives at the RJC Foundation has been essential. Like many in her community, she has faced gaps in employment that have made it difficult to put food on the table. She shares that things are expensive at the grocery store and without consistent income, it’s hard to provide nutritious meals for her and her family. She says she is so thankful to be able to come to the RJC Foundation to receive essential food assistance.Â
Together with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the RJC Foundation is not only addressing immediate needs—but also paving the way for stronger, more resilient communities.
The Food Bank and its partners encourage its community members to get involved in the fight against hunger. Please consider supporting the Food Bank’s mission today.
