How to Find Free Food Resources in LA County

How to Find Free Food Resources in LA County

Food insecurity impacts more neighbors across Los Angeles County than many realize. According to USC Dornsife, one in four households experienced food insecurity in 2025, including families from higher-income brackets due to the region’s high cost of living. For many, this can mean skipping meals or not knowing where their next meal will come from.

This is why the work of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and its network of partner agencies is so essential. Together, they provide nutritious food, address food and nutrition insecurity, and respond during times of crisis such as wildfires and public health emergencies.

Whether you are seeking food assistance for the first time or have needed support before, help is available and there is no shame in using it.

A Network of Support Across LA County

The Food Bank works with a network of more than 600 partner agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, and community organizations. These partners distribute the majority of food across LA County, ensuring that resources reach communities efficiently and locally.

Because LA County is so large, finding food assistance close to home makes access easier and ensures resources reach as many neighbors as possible.

You Are Not Alone

More than one million people receive food assistance from the Food Bank each month. Many are facing unexpected challenges.

  • During a drive-through distribution, the Food Bank met Lidia, who was unemployed, had lost her CalFresh benefits, and had recently lost her mother.

  • Rue and his family are feeling the effects of inflation, so he turns to the Food Bank for food assistance.

Their experiences are a reminder that anyone can need help, and that support is available when it is needed most.
