Every year, the Food Bank hosts Season for Sharing. In this end-of-year event, the Food Bank celebrates our community partners for taking action in an effort to alleviate hunger throughout Los Angeles County. These community members stand out for their leadership, dedication, and generosity and are presented with one of the four awards given throughout the event, including the Fighting Hunger, Giving Hope Award, Community Partner Award, the Tony Collier Award, and the Dennis Winston Leadership Award. By contributing their time and resources, our partners shine a spotlight on the fact that everyone can do something to fight hunger.

To kick off the summer, the Food Bank teams up with ABC7 for the month-long campaign, Feed SoCal to provide meals for food-insecure families throughout Southern California. In the latest event, the Food Bank and ABC7 raised more than $100,000 and 6,000 pounds of food.
The need is great throughout the whole year but even greater throughout the holiday season. Local news channel NBC4 launched ‘Help 4 the Hungry’ in 2018 in partnership with the Food Bank and other Southern California food banks. The month-long campaign that runs through the holiday season has raised nearly $1.1 million dollars in cash donations and provided seven million meals across the region.Â
KTLA5’s Food Drive teams up with the Food Bank every year for the past six years to collect food and funds for those struggling with food insecurity in our community. Community members have the opportunity to drive through or walk up and drop off their donations of food or cash.
Thanks to the help of tens of thousands of volunteers that help unload, sort and glean food each year, the Food Bank can continue to provide meals to food insecure individuals. In 2021, nearly 160,000 hours were donated by generous community members. Learn how you can volunteer as an individual or group, host a volunteer event or sign up as a Volunteer Ambassador. You can also help at a partner agency or contribute from home by creating hygiene kits for families at food distributions.
Thanks to generous food and product donations from growers, wholesalers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and others, the Food Bank is able to serve more individuals and families. 96% of all revenue goes directly to Food Bank Programs to support the community. That’s why, at the Food Bank, $1 donated is the equivalent of four meals. A one-time donation of just $25 can provide up to 100 meals for those in need, and $23 per month provides a year’s worth of food to someone in need.
