At the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, we know that ending hunger takes a community, and that every contribution, no matter the size, helps move us closer to a future where no one goes hungry. Each month, we serve more than one million seniors, parents, children, and individuals across Los Angeles County. Community-driven support makes that possible.
That support can take many forms.
When Suzanne Cooper and Suzanne Henderson wanted to help their neighbors, they started with a simple idea: cookies. Through their grassroots group, Hope and Cookies, they hosted a local bake sale to benefit the Food Bank. “We wanted to do something that would benefit people directly and keep the funds local,” they shared. Within hours, every treat sold out, raising enough to provide 4,000 meals for families facing hunger.
Stories like this remind us that no act is too small. A bake sale, a lemonade stand, a birthday fundraiser, or a neighborhood drive may seem modest, but together, these efforts power large-scale impact. Peer-to-peer fundraisers not only raise essential funds but also raise awareness of food and nutrition insecurity in our communities, sparking conversations and inspiring others to take action.
At the same time, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and foundation grants are essential to sustaining and expanding our work. Whether a donation is $10, $10,000, or $1 million, each dollar helps us distribute nutritious food, support partner agencies, and respond to the evolving needs of Los Angeles County.
You, too, can turn a simple idea into meaningful action. Host a small event, dedicate a special occasion to hunger relief, or invite friends and family to join you in giving. When thousands of individuals take small steps, the collective impact is transformative.
Thank you for being part of a community that turns generosity (large and small) into real change.
P.S. You can make a lasting impact all year long by becoming a monthly donor and helping families across LA County access the nutritious food they need.
