Celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month

Celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month

Every April, Volunteer Appreciation Month gives us the opportunity to recognize the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and compassion to help make our mission possible. At the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, volunteers are an essential part of the fight against hunger in Los Angeles County.

Last year alone, more than 36,000 volunteers supported the Food Bank’s mission. Whether they are sorting produce, packing food kits, inspecting donated items, or helping prepare food for distribution, volunteers make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. Their dedication helps the Food Bank provide food and hope to more than one million people every month.

Volunteers are more than an extra set of hands. They are partners in service who help strengthen our communities. They show up with care, generosity, and a shared commitment to ensuring that families, children, seniors, and individuals across LA County have access to the food they need.

Each volunteer shift contributes to a much larger impact. With every box packed and every pound of food sorted, volunteers help the Food Bank move resources efficiently and effectively to where they are needed most. Their support is especially meaningful during times of increased need, including emergencies, economic hardship, and rising food costs.

Volunteerism also reflects the spirit of Los Angeles County. People from all walks of life come together at the Food Bank to support one another and give back to their communities. Students, families, corporate teams, community groups, and returning volunteers all play a role in advancing our mission. Their collective efforts show what is possible when people unite around a common cause.

During Volunteer Appreciation Month, we are proud to celebrate the individuals and groups who give so much of themselves in service to others. We are deeply grateful for every volunteer who chooses to spend their time helping the Food Bank serve our neighbors with dignity and care.

To all of our volunteers, thank you. Your generosity fuels our work and helps make a stronger, healthier Los Angeles County possible. Learn more about volunteer opportunities with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank by visiting our Volunteer Portal.
