Lulu and Georgia Donated $100,000 to Match Year-End Gifts in 2020

Lulu and Georgia Donated $100,000 to Match Year-End Gifts in 2020

A volunteer loads up a car at a free food distribution with the Los Angeles Regional Food BankLulu and Georgia is a company who Forbes called “A treasure trove of exclusive home furnishings and accessories…like rare finds from a hidden boutique.” Their team of designers and buyers stay far ahead of trends and on top of what’s happening in the industry to provide the best and latest in furniture, home accessories, and furnishings, including exclusive styles you won’t find anywhere else.

While CEO, Sara Sugarman, has roots in home decor that run deep, being based out of and part of the Los Angeles community is also important.

Sara reached out to us at the end of 2020, eager to help meet the increased need in our community after an unprecedented, challenging year. Not only did Lulu and Georgia want to donate to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. They wanted to match donations up to $100,000 during our year-end campaign.

“We are humbled by the work that the LA Regional Food Bank is doing, and we are honored to help our community during these difficult times,” said Sara.

We exceeded the match goal, and we are grateful for the support of our donors and Lulu and Georgia. With the economic downturn as a result of the pandemic, food distributions organized by the Food Bank and our partner agencies are serving those impacted by layoffs, furloughs or a decrease in work hours. The number of families reached range from 1,000 to 7,560 families served per distribution. More than 240 distributions have been held serving communities all over Los Angeles County. It is largely thanks to generous and thoughtful matching gifts like this one from Lulu and Georgia that help us reach a historic amount of food-insecure individuals.

“Matching gifts are a great way to energize more people in our community to join the fight against hunger,” said President and CEO of the LA Regional Food Bank, Michael Flood. “By matching $100,000 in donations, Lulu and Georgia helped generate the equivalent of 800,000 meals – food that is critically needed in our community amid the pandemic.”

It is never too late to join the fight against hunger – donate today where gifts directly benefit programs that support food-insecure children, families, seniors and individuals throughout Los Angeles County. Together, #WeFeedLA.
