In an ongoing effort to meet the growing need for food assistance across Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has recently added 60 new partner agencies with 105 food distribution sites, primarily serving the South Bay area. This expansion is crucial to ensuring that individuals and families in the South Bay have continued access to nutritious food in their local communities.
Food banks, like the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, serve as essential lifelines for communities facing food or nutrition insecurity. Food comes from a variety of sources, including growers, wholesalers, and retailers. Volunteers at distribution centers gleaned, sorted and packaged the food. Food banks then distribute these resources through a network of partner agencies—such as food pantries, soup kitchens, and community centers—that can deliver food to people in their local communities.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has been serving the community since 1973, and the recent onboarding of new partner agencies in the South Bay reaffirms the LA Regional Food Bank’s commitment to fighting hunger wherever it exists. The Food Bank recognizes the unique challenges faced by individuals in the South Bay and is following recent events very closely. The LA Regional Food Bank is working tirelessly to be part of the solution, working closely with local partners who have deep connections to their communities.
The Food Bank is grateful for continued support from its many partners and donors, which makes this expansion possible. Please consider volunteering or donating to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank as we work to reach more people than ever before. Together, we can work toward our vision: that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County.
