The Kardashian Jenner Family is Giving Back this Thanksgiving

Food Recipients Had a Special Holiday Surprise at the LA Regional Food Bank.

Most of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s 37,000 volunteers help glean and pack food for later distribution, but the Food Bank does have some direct-distribution volunteer events. At this special pre-Thanksgiving food distribution, people who were in need of food assistance lined up only to be surprised by some very special volunteers.

On Saturday, November 23, Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Corey Gamble were on-site to distribute holiday groceries to their neighbors in need.

“I wasn’t planning on making a turkey this year for my family because they are so expensive, but thanks to this food distribution, I’ll be able to provide a memorable Thanksgiving meal for my family,” said one food recipient. In fact, the Kardashians made sure she received two turkeys.

Roger Castle, Chief Development Officer of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank said, “We genuinely appreciate the Kardashian Jenner family for providing Thanksgiving meals to more than 100 families that face food insecurity in our community, for volunteering to distribute the food personally and for raising valuable awareness for our mission to end hunger in Los Angeles County.”

Getting Involved in the Fight Against Hunger

Kim Kardashian, who has visited the LA Regional Food Bank before, said to PEOPLE, “I am just at a point in my life where I don’t want to be naïve anymore,” she admitted. “And I want to use my platform to get other people involved. I just hope that I can shine a light on this issue, and hopefully more people will come together and we can figure out a solution for this.”

The need in our community is great, with an estimated 1 in 5 people in LA County facing food insecurity. Los Angeles County also has the largest number of food-insecure children in the United States. Aware that many children would be attending the event, face painting was provided, and arts and crafts were donated by Little Artist Party. Live music by Prism DJs, a Beyond Meat food truck, food by Earle’s Restaurant and Churros from Churro Service also contributed to the lively event.

Setting a Wonderful Example

Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Corey Gamble all set a wonderful example for those who are more fortunate by partnering with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank this holiday season. While it is the season for sharing, remember that the Food Bank needs volunteers and financial support all year long.
