Hunger Action Month 2025

Hunger Action Month 2025

Fighting hunger is a year-round effort—but every September, during Hunger Action Month, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank invites our community to come together, raise awareness, and take action to support neighbors across LA County who are unsure of where their next meal will come from.

Launched in 2008 by Feeding America, the nation’s largest network of food banks, Hunger Action Month mobilizes communities each year to shine a spotlight on food insecurity and inspire solutions. The LA Regional Food Bank is proud to be part of this network, serving more than 1 million individuals monthly with the help of generous donors, volunteers, and partners.

Continue reading to discover six impactful ways you can make a difference this September—and beyond.

  1. Donate

Your generosity makes our work possible. Whether you make a one-time gift or become a monthly donor, your support helps provide healthy meals for children, families, older adults, and individuals across LA County.

  • Give monthly: Your monthly gift transforms lives by providing consistent, healthy food for neighbors facing hunger in Los Angeles County.
  • Donate stock: A simple way to give that may also provide tax benefits.
  • Donate a vehicle: Turn an unused car into meals for families in need.
  • Make a one-time gift: Every dollar goes a long way.

With 96% of all revenues going to programs, your generosity supports children, hardworking families, and seniors—day after day, month after month. Join our community of donors and be the steady hand our neighbors can count on.

  1. Start a WeFeedLA Fundraiser

Join our growing community of digital fundraisers! With just a few clicks, you can create a virtual campaign, organize a food drive, or dedicate your birthday fundraiser on Facebook to support the Food Bank.

It’s so easy you can start making a huge difference from your phone, tablet, or computer!

  1. Volunteer

The Food Bank is one of the top places to volunteer in Los Angeles County. For just a few hours, you can help sort, box, and prepare food that will be distributed through our 600+ partner agencies.

We welcome both individuals and groups—and volunteers often tell us how rewarding it feels to make a direct impact. Sign up today to find the next available opportunity.

  1. Take a Food Bank Tour

See the mission in action. The Food Bank offers in-person and virtual tours of its facilities, including its City of Industry warehouse. A tour provides a firsthand look at how food flows from donations to distribution and how we reach more than 1 million people each month.

  1. Reduce Food Waste

Food insecurity and food waste are two sides of the same coin. In the U.S., up to 40% of the food supply is wasted each year, while millions go hungry. By learning how to properly store food, interpret date labels, and plan meals, you can help reduce waste and fight hunger.

  1. Follow Us and Spread the Word

Awareness is action. To stay in the loop, follow the Food Bank on Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and TikTok, and subscribe to our newsletter. Every like, share, and comment helps amplify the message and bring more people into the fight against hunger.

👉 This September, take action. Together, we can create a hunger-free LA County.
