Consistent Food Assistance Helps Maria Teresa Have Consistent Meals

Consistent Food Assistance Helps Maria Teresa Have Consistent Meals

Without food assistance from Hollywood Community Housing, Maria Teresa would struggle to put food on the table.

There is no shame in accessing food assistance to feed yourself or your family. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has worked to provide food assistance to hundreds of thousands of families each month, meeting them with the dignity and respect they deserve.

While some individuals may seek temporary assistance or simply need to supplement their pantry with additional food, there are other individuals who need food assistance to put food on their tables every day.

Consistent Food Assistance for Consistent Meals

Maria Teresa is one of the hundreds of individuals who attend the food distribution at Hollywood Community Housing. Though she receives a retirement check and CalFresh benefits, it’s simply not enough for her and her family to consistently put food on the table. Therefore, the food distributions at Hollywood Community Housing help supplement what she receives, adding an extra dose of nutritious food.

“I’m here out of necessity,” Maria Teresa said. “Everything is very expensive at the stores, so what we get here is very helpful.”

Hollywood Community Housing is among the hundreds of nonprofit organizations that partner with the Food Bank to provide food assistance to its community. At every distribution, each food recipient can expect to receive meat, chicken, rice, beans, and almonds, items that for some, may be otherwise out of reach.

“I’m very grateful for the assistance we receive because there are a lot of people in need,” Maria Teresa said.
