A Grateful Thanksgiving: Your Impact in Action

A Grateful Thanksgiving: Your Impact in Action

This Thanksgiving, as families across LA County gather to share gratitude and good food, we invite you to be part of a story that embodies the true spirit of the season. Meet Lay Salter, a veteran and a vital recipient of the nourishment your support provides.

In collaboration with our friends at the LA Rams and the Community Resource Center in Long Beach, the LA Regional Food Bank encountered Lay, who shared, “I’m here to support my family and have a good Thanksgiving. The turkey is going to be a blessing on all the tables because they are so expensive at the store. It helps us save. I’m grateful to be here, and it’s been wonderful to have help and support for the city of Long Beach. You all are making a big impact on this city today. Thank you for being out here and doing this; it takes a lot.”

This year has presented Lay with profound challenges, including two surgeries and the completion of chemotherapy. Despite facing personal hurdles, Lay’s story embodies the true meaning of Thanksgiving – finding solace and joy in community support. Your generosity lies at the heart of this support.

Lay expresses his gratitude, saying, “We want to thank everyone who donates, works, and spares their time to provide this food–we appreciate everything you do. Between my house and my granddaughter’s house, friends and family, it’s going to be a big Thanksgiving this year. There will be about 75-80 of us, and we are going to share and enjoy all the wonderful food we receive here!”

Your contribution transforms simple ingredients like onions, potatoes, and turkey into a feast that graces the tables of families who might otherwise struggle to afford a celebratory meal. As we approach the holiday season, consider giving the gift of food. It’s not too late to make a difference!

This Thanksgiving, let Lay’s story inspire you to join us in ensuring that no family in LA County goes without a bountiful meal to share and cherish. Your support makes moments like Lay’s possible, turning challenging times into opportunities for gratitude and joy. Be part of this impactful journey – donate today and help us make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
