The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank proudly celebrates President & CEO Michael Flood, who has been named the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2026 Nonprofit Executive of the Year. This recognition reflects not only his exceptional leadership but also his unwavering commitment to fighting hunger in Los Angeles County. This would be Flood’s second award after also being honored back in 2022.

Michael Flood is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading voices on food banking and nutrition insecurity. LA County has continued to face significant challenges, including rising inflation, the devastating Greater Los Angeles Wildfires, and a recent federal government shutdown. In 2025, under Flood’s leadership, the Food Bank acquired and distributed food and essential products for disaster response, serving more than one million people each month across Los Angeles County.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he helped guide and mobilize an unprecedented response, acquiring and distributing more than 325 million pounds of food —equivalent to 257 million meals.

Under Flood’s leadership for the past 25 years, the Food Bank has remained steadfast, responding to increased demand while advancing long-term solutions to food and nutrition insecurity.

Even as conditions improve, the need remains high. Thanks to Michael Flood’s vision and the dedication of the Food Bank community, the organization continues to operate at a near-record pace—bringing hope, nourishment, and stability to our neighbors when they need it most.

On behalf of the LA Regional Food Bank team and the Board of Directors, congratulations to Michael Flood on a well-deserved award.
