Imagine being able to help feed over a million people each month with just three hours of your time. That’s the impact of volunteers at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. It’s one of the reasons why the Food Bank is considered one of the top volunteering opportunities in LA County.
When individuals volunteer at the Food Bank, they help glean, sort, pack, and sometimes distribute food to families, children, and older adults who seek food assistance through our direct and indirect programs.
In 2025, more than 36,000 volunteers donated a total of 239,252 hours, helping on-site at the Food Bank and at food distribution sites. Volunteers made up the equivalent of 115 full-time Food Bank employees, allowing the organization to dedicate more time and resources to providing food assistance to neighbors in need.
Who Can Volunteer at the Food Bank?
Volunteering opportunities are available for individuals, groups, and corporate teams looking for the perfect team-building activity. Many individuals have also chosen to celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions with their friends and families at the Food Bank.
Volunteering is available at the Food Bank’s South Los Angeles or City of Industry Distributions Centers from Tuesday to Saturday, as well as at one of our hundreds of partner agencies. Volunteering opportunities are open to those 14 years and older.
