Target’s $100,000 Gift Helps the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Provide Food Assistance in Times of Need

Target’s $100,000 Gift Helps the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Provide Food Assistance in Times of Need

Target has supported the Food Bank since 2006, donating over $2 million to help support food assistance programs across LA County.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is grateful to have received a $100,000 donation from Target, a generous investment that will help provide food assistance to the more than 1 million individuals the Food Bank now serves each month. At a time when many households continue to face rising living costs and financial uncertainty, this support will help ensure that children, individuals, and older adults have access to the nutritious food they need.

The donation was presented during a volunteer event at the Food Bank’s South Los Angeles Distribution Center, where Target team members rolled up their sleeves to pack food for neighbors experiencing food insecurity, alongside James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur Roy Choi.

Known for celebrating the diverse flavors and cultures that define Los Angeles, Choi recently partnered with Target to launch a limited-edition collection of Good & Gather Collabs snacks inspired by his Korean American heritage and the city’s vibrant food scene. The collaboration celebrates food’s unique ability to bring people together, aligning with the Food Bank’s mission to help individuals access nutritious meals.

Meeting a Growing Need

Across Los Angeles County, the need for food assistance remains high. Economic uncertainty, rising household expenses, and other financial pressures continue to stretch family budgets, forcing many people to make impossible choices among housing, utilities, transportation, and groceries.

Each month, the Food Bank provides food assistance to more than one million people through hundreds of partner agencies and direct and indirect distributions throughout Los Angeles County. Gifts like Target’s support make it possible to keep nutritious food moving into communities where it is needed most.

Target has been a valued partner of the Food Bank for many years, supporting hunger-relief efforts through financial contributions, volunteer service, and food donations. Since 2006, Target has contributed over $2 million to Food Bank programs, while local Target stores have also participated in the Food Bank’s food rescue efforts, helping redirect surplus food to neighbors instead of landfills.

The LA Regional Food Bank is deeply grateful to Target, Roy Choi, and the many Target team members who dedicated their time to serving our neighbors. Their generosity comes at a critical moment and will help provide hope and nourishment to communities facing uncertain times.

Every donation helps the Food Bank continue responding to increasing demand while providing fresh produce, proteins, dairy products, and other nutritious groceries that help families maintain healthy diets throughout the year. If you are able, consider donating to the Food Bank.
