Multiple-Income Households are Struggling. The Food Bank is Here to Help.

Multiple-Income Households are Struggling. The Food Bank is Here to Help.

Even though Azgad’s household includes multiple incomes, turning to the Food Bank helps alleviate their budget.

Households with multiple incomes are struggling due to the rising cost of living in Los Angeles County. A recent study conducted by UCLA revealed that a reported 24% of survey respondents shared that they worried about going hungry because they could not afford the cost of food in the last few years. This comes as USA food prices have risen by 25% from 2019 to 2023

An average of 900,000 individuals turn to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and its hundreds of partner agencies throughout LA County for food assistance to help their families make it through the month.

Azgad’s Family Turns to Food Pantries to Make Ends Meet

Such is the story for Azgad, a food recipient at Servant Arms in La Puente. Both he and his wife are employed and have no other debt, except for monthly bills and a car payment. However, putting food on the table is becoming harder, and he is considering getting a second job to make ends meet.

Azgad, along with other family members, neighbors, and even coworkers, turn to food pantries like the one at Servant Arms in search of food that will allow them to pay rent and other bills.
