Los Angeles street artist, Morley, donated his time and talent at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in June of 2019 by installing an exclusive mural. “I wanted to create a message that would really encourage people to do practical things to help their community,” he said.
Morley moved to Los Angeles in 2006 and began putting posters around the city, and people responded, so he kept going. If you live in Los Angeles or visit frequently, you have seen his work. He’s most known for inspirational messages and is often depicted in the art itself. Examples of Morley’s work can be found via his Instagram activity.
“Making a difference can wear you out, but it is worth it in the end. I hope that I can help volunteers get the energy to pack one more thing.”
Morley knows that the Food Bank is on the front-lines in the fight against hunger. As someone who has known people experiencing food insecurity himself, he felt especially compelled to support the Food Bank.
Making a difference in the world takes hard work. Each of Morley’s inspirational messages take planning, time and energy. Similarly, the fight against hunger takes all of us coming together as a community to help and care for those who need it. The Food Bank is one of the best volunteer activities in Los Angeles, and as fun as it is, it can be a lot of work! Volunteers glean donated food items or prepare boxes of food for later distribution. Morley’s goal was to give the volunteers some extra motivation by giving them an inspirational message while they volunteer.
“I hope the volunteers see it and realize that everything they pack is one more person who is going to be helped. One more person that is going to be fed. One more person that is going to feel that there are people out there who care.”
