September is Hunger Action Month nationwide, and in 2018, Coco’s and Carrows Restaurants, now operated by Shari’s M

anagement Corporation, joined the fight against hunger by hosting a matching-gift fundraising campaign. Coco’s and Carrows agreed to match each donation made by customers as they checked out, thus doubling their impact.

This campaign raised nearly $14,000 for the Food Bank, which can provide up to 55,000 meals for food insecure individuals in LA County.

“Hunger strikes every community we serve so it is especially gratifying for me to see that our guests recognized this community need and responded to our Hunger Action Month fundraising efforts, which turned out to exceed our expectations,” said Sam Borgese, CEO of Shari’s Management Corporation. He continued, “Ending hunger is a passion of ours and we will strive to contribute all we can to end hunger and limit the amount of food waste in our industry.”

This initiative marks the first of many efforts that Shari’s Management Corporation will make in the years to come to help feed millions of individuals. Matching gift campaigns are a great way to inspire people in your community to donate, because their contributions are twice as meaningful. Shari’s Management Corporation has set a great example for other companies and organizations by demonstrating a way to share a piece of their financial success. Today, it is more important than ever for companies and organizations to give back to the community.

On behalf of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, thank you to Coco’s, Carrows and all of their generous customers. We are grateful to everyone who donated to the campaign. You are truly Hunger Heroes in our fight against hunger!
