How the LA Regional Food Bank Helps Fuel Struggling Young Adults Like Kennedy

How the LA Regional Food Bank Helps Fuel Struggling Young Adults Like Kennedy

Covenant House of California, a Food Bank partner agency, welcomes young adults like Kennedy who are at risk of becoming unhoused.

In Los Angeles County, hundreds of thousands of residents face food insecurity every day, but behind every statistic is a human story. One of those stories belongs to Kennedy, who is thriving thanks to the support received at the Covenant House of California, a proud Los Angeles Regional Food Bank partner agency in LA.

Through its network of partner agencies and indirect and direct distributions, the Food Bank serves over 900,000 people each month, including individuals like Kennedy who are working hard to make ends meet, just like many of our neighbors.

Kennedy immediately felt welcomed after walking through Covenant House’s doors. Kennedy thrived and was offered more than just a meal and a roof over her head. Kennedy was also offered education in various topics that would eventually help her thrive independently.

Food insecurity affects more than physical health—it affects mental health and overall stability. For Kennedy, the support meant more than meals. It meant peace of mind and the ability to concentrate on her goals without the constant stress of hunger.

Kennedy’s story powerfully reminds us that access to nutritious food is a foundation for success. When young adults are nourished, they can show up ready to work or go to school and contribute to their communities.

The LA Regional Food Bank is committed to supporting neighbors from all walks of life through direct and indirect food distributions, which positively impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals. Consider donating to the Food Bank today and making a difference.
