NBC Los Angeles, Ralphs and Food 4 Less Raise $400,000 for Local Food Banks

NBC Los Angeles, Ralphs and Food 4 Less Raise $400,000 for Local Food Banks

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is honored to receive funds from the “Help 4 the Hungry” campaign.

Starting in November and extending into December, the Help 4 the Hungry campaign raised $400,000. This donation was divided up and shared with local food banks relative to where shoppers initially contributed.

Helping Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank received $200,400 from this campaign – enough money to help provide more than 800,000 meals. Financial contributions like this support the Food Bank’s critical work. Roughly 300,000 people are served each month throughout Los Angeles County – the most populous county in the United States – where approximately 1 in 8 neighbors are fighting food insecurity.

“In most economic recoveries, we see the demand for food assistance decrease significantly,” says President and CEO of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Michael Flood. “This recovery is different. Even though the unemployment rate is low, many families and individuals continue to seek food assistance primarily due to our local area’s high housing costs.”

Ralphs and Food 4 Less Make a Difference

Ralphs and Food 4 Less, both part of the Kroger company, understand the need in their community and worked hard last holiday season to make a difference. Partnering with NBC Los Angeles to help those in need was an easy decision for them.

While on-air on Giving Tuesday, John Votava, Director of Corporate Affairs for Ralphs and Food 4 Less said “We are giving everyone a chance to come and donate and support their local food banks. Every dollar that is donated stays local.”
