Food Pantries Help Feed Families Like Veronica’s – Including Her Dog

Food Pantries Help Feed Families Like Veronica’s – Including Her Dog

Veronica attends the Eastmont Community Center food distribution to get food assistance for her family and her dog.

There are millions of individuals struggling to make ends meet in Los Angeles County. The rising costs of food, rent, transportation, and everything in between are pushing families and their budgets to the limit. In households where one income used to be enough, today’s expenses stretch two incomes thin.

Veronica works part-time, working only two days a week. Meanwhile, her husband works on occasion, three times a week. This dynamic simply isn’t enough to cover everyday essentials, so attending the food distribution at the Eastmont Community Center, a proud LA Regional Food Bank partner agency, helps Veronica and her family receive the food assistance they need.

Casper
Casper, Veronica’s dog

At Eastmont Community Center, the organization aims to care for its neighbors as a whole, providing not just food assistance but also nutrition and financial classes, tax preparation, and food for extended family members, like pets.

For Veronica, receiving food for her dog Casper has come in handy. Receiving food assistance for her family allows her to save money for other items, like rent, but receiving food for Casper goes a long way toward keeping the family as a whole happy and healthy.

Individuals and families turn to the Food Bank and its partner agencies when they need food assistance the most. Consider donating to the Food Bank and supporting neighbors like Veronica.
