Families – Big and Small – Attend Food Distribution to Help Alleviate the High Cost of Living

Families – Big and Small – Attend Food Distribution to Help Alleviate the High Cost of Living

Brad and Joseph have two different living situations, but both attend the First Church of the Nazarene’s food distribution to receive food assistance.

As the cost of living continues to rise in Los Angeles County, more families of all incomes and all walks of life are turning to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and its partner agencies to receive food assistance.

One of the Food Bank’s partner agencies supporting its community is the First Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena, commonly known as PazNaz. Here, hundreds of families come every week to receive food for the body and the soul.

A Food Pantry to Supplement a Family’s Grocery Budget

It’s no secret that the food costs have increased in recent years. But so has gas, utilities, rent, and household essentials, among other things. Families that may have never thought of seeking food assistance, for example, middle-income families, are now attending food distributions around LA County to get all the food they need to feed their families.

Brad is one of those individuals who have recently started going to food distributions to supplement the food they can purchase at the grocery store. In other times, he and his family of four would have been able to get everything they needed with their income. But times have changed, and now, food pantries help his family get the food they need.

A Food Distribution Helping to Cut Down on Bills

Seniors have taken a big hit with the rise in prices, especially as their income continues to be the same. Joseph is another client who attends the PazNaz food distribution. He recently sold his home in Florida and moved to California to be closer to his two granddaughters.

Although he enjoys spending time with his granddaughters more often, the move has come at a price. And his move came when everything was on the rise. Attending the PazNaz food distribution helps him get the food assistance he needs to make ends meet.
