CVS Pharmacy Customers Contribute Essential Funds and Support to the LA Regional Food Bank

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has been selected by CVS to receive a grant for nearly $300,000 to support our ongoing mission to combat hunger in the greater LA County area. The grant is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing food insecurity in our community.

Through the generosity of CVS Pharmacy customers who rounded up their purchases at registers, we are one step closer to realizing a vision of a future where everyone, regardless of race, background, or ZIP code, has access to the food, nutrition and resources needed to thrive.

At the core of this collaboration is the understanding that everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, and individuals and families are working tirelessly to provide for themselves. Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that in 2023, more than one million LA County households reported being food insecure as of July, according to a USC Dornsife Public Exchange study.

It’s crucial to recognize that food and nutrition insecurity is not an individual weakness but a symptom of ineffective structures and systems. Anyone can experience food and nutrition insecurity when placed in an economic situation that prevents them from accessing the necessary nourishment. Often, these challenges persist due to systemic issues, highlighting the urgent need for collective action and partnerships to address the root causes of food insecurity.

These funds enable the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and our partners across LA County to respond more effectively to our community’s immediate needs while working towards long-term solutions to eliminate hunger.

“On behalf of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, I extend our deepest gratitude to CVS Pharmacy customers for their invaluable contribution,” said LA Regional Food Bank President and CEO. “Your generosity is a beacon of hope, illuminating the path toward a hunger-free Los Angeles County. Together, we are nourishing bodies and nurturing the spirit of community and compassion. Thank you, CVS customers, for standing with us in the fight against hunger and proving that every spare bit of change can make a monumental difference in the lives of those in need.”

Together, we strive towards a future where every individual and family has reliable access to the nourishment they need to thrive. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is proud to stand alongside CVS customers in this shared commitment to creating positive change.
