Congressman Schiff Provides 400,000 Meals

Rep. Adam Schiff Raises $100,000 For the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

Adam SchiffRep. Adam Schiff of California’s 28th congressional district and his supporters raised almost $100,000 for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in the first few days of the Coronavirus pandemic. These funds will provide enough food for roughly 400,000 meals for those impacted.

“The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has been an invaluable community resource during our most desperate hours like fires, earthquakes, and personal emergencies for countless individuals and families in Southern California. Now, they are on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic, making sure that those who need it can get a meal, even as their lives and incomes are disrupted,” said Congressman Adam Schiff.

Los Angeles County Comes Together

Many in the community, like Schiff, have stepped up to help the Food Bank. “Earlier this week, I asked my supporters to help out in the midst of this crisis. In response, over 2,500 people around the country came together, contributing over $95,000, which will provide enough resources to pay for 360,000 meals,” said Schiff. This outpouring of support, literally a community coming together to help those who need it the most, is an example of how difficult times can truly bring out the best in us. We’re all in this together.”

The Food Bank has seen an increased demand amid the Coronavirus crisis, and is continuing operations as an “essential service.” The Food Bank typically provides food for more than 300,000 people each month through a network of partner agencies, and through Food Bank programs. The Food Bank has also introduced special distributions to help those who have been laid off or seen reduced hours.

“The Food Bank has seen a tremendous outpouring of support during the Coronavirus crisis,” said Michael Flood, President and CEO of the Food Bank. “We truly appreciate Congressman Schiff and his constituents that have stepped up to support our community in this time of increased need.”
