My family shared a Thanksgiving meal—thanks to you

My family shared a Thanksgiving meal—thanks to you

I did everything I thought I was supposed to do. I have my college degree and worked as a federal tax specialist. I was never in a position to need help—then everything changed.

My name is Elisia, and in the span of a year, I was laid off and faced serious complications from a rattlesnake bite. I had to go on permanent disability. I started looking at my bills and realized I needed to look for assistance to have enough food.

I like that you can leave here, go home and make a meal. They have shelf-stable items, milk and meat—they have a little bit of everything.

“They give you everything you need, and that was so helpful at the holidays for my family.” —ELISIA

You’ve helped me feed my grandkids

The staff here is so personable and people in the same situation as me feel welcomed here. I’ve even received help with my Thanksgiving meals for a couple of years—it’s wonderful because turkeys are very expensive in the store.

A woman smiles while holding a bag of vegetables at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. In the background, another person arranges items on shelves stocked with canned goods, ensuring everything is ready for those in need.
Elisia was laid off and suffered a serious injury. She visits one of our partner agencies to receive food to make ends meet.

They give you everything you need, and that was so helpful at the holidays for my family. I watch my grandkids four to five days a week, so having a little extra for them makes a huge difference.

I donate to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank when I have a chance. Sometimes I don’t use every item I take home, so I make sure and donate it back. I know it will go to someone in need.

It’s hard to make it—it really is. We really appreciate your donations. I’m so grateful for all I receive here.
