Amazon Takes a Stand Against Hunger in LA County

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank received a $75,000 donation from Amazon to continue to mobilize resources to fight hunger

On Friday, June 7, 2024, Amazon presented the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank with a $75,000 check, enough to help provide 300,000 meals throughout Los Angeles County, as part of the ABC7 Feed SoCal campaign.

The Food Bank is honored to have received the donation and to have State Senator Bob Archuleta, City of Industry Mayor Cory Moss, a representative from Supervisor Hilda Solis’ office and other distinguished guests at its newly renovated City of Industry distribution center.

This donation will help the Food Bank and its partner agency network of about 600 other hunger-relief organizations continue to provide vital food and nutrition services to our neighbors as the need remains high. According to ABC7, consumers spend 11.3% more of their disposable income on food at a 30-year high. With rising food prices, costs of living and transportation in LA County, households with fixed incomes are especially vulnerable to price fluctuations at the grocery store and beyond.

Amazon has been an ongoing supporter of the Food Bank, including teaming up with the Food Bank in late March 2020 and offering delivery of emergency food kits to people, such as older adults, who were adhering to the stay-at-home orders during the public health crisis at that time. During this critical partnership, Delivery Service Partners and Flex drivers and other partners in Amazon’s global transportation network collected pre-packed food kits from the Food Bank and made free, ‘no-contact’ deliveries directly to the front steps of vulnerable populations in our communities. This collaboration allowed access to nutritious food resources to reach high-risk individuals and their families who need food assistance without leaving the safety of their homes.

The Food Bank thanks everyone involved, including elected officials, ABC7, Amazon and Culver Studios, for partnering with the Food Bank in the fight against hunger. If you are in a position to give, please donate today to make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors. Together, #WeFeedLA.
