Architects, designers, builders and engineers created amazing structures out of canned food during the Seventh Annual CanstructionLA design/build contest. The 2013 CanstructionLA event raised over 21,076 pounds of food for the Food Bank and for the first time, the event was held in conjunction with Downtown LA Art Walk.
Thank you to the CanstructionLA committee that worked so hard to put the event together, and to the six teams who created amazing works of art.

Audience Favorite – “Avoid Hunger Everywhere” by RTKL Associates

Best Meal – “The Port of Los CANgeles” by PCL Construction and KPFFConsulting Engineers

Structural Ingenuity - “The LAX EnCANter Restaurant” by RBB Architects

Best Use of Labels - “CAN-day Afternoon” by Steinberg Architects

Honorable Mention – “CANstruction Republic” by Clark Construction and Thornton Tomassetti
The 2013 jury included Edward Cella, director of Edward Cella Art & Architecture; Adrian Kudler, editor of Curbed Los Angeles; Michelle Lainez, executive chef at Pete's Café; Gwynne Pugh, FAIA, principal of Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio and Joe Moller, executive director of Downtown LA Art Walk.
