Chief Operating Officer

Key Responsibilities 

Overall management responsibility for the operational and programmatic activities of the Food Bank.  Deliver against the financial plan. Provide leadership, focusing on customer requirements, operational performance and a motivated workforce. Ensure succession planning and consistent delivery of services and solutions. Performance of the following duties is done personally or through subordinate managers.

Works with President/CEO to maintain a sound corporate organization and establishes policies to ensure safe and efficient operations are maintained throughout all activities.  Monitor the performance and effectiveness of key operating units within the operation: product sourcing, agency relations; delivery and other programs; volunteer programs; warehousing, logistics, and production; and quality assurance/food safety and compliance.

Establish and communicate to employees a high level of expectation and commitment to continuous improvement and excellence within the operation.  Is responsible for management evaluation and development and provides for capable management succession. Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.

Guides and directs staff in all aspects of operations and programs execution, ensuring efficient and timely purchase, storage, processing, and distribution of food products, in accordance with established procedures.  Works to ensure optimal service is provided internally and to client agencies and customers. 

Participates in the formulation and execution of strategic plans, structures and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and projected growth. Maintains and updates disaster relief plan. Works with executive team in analysis of economic and political trends that leads to execution of improvement action plans to ensure that performance metrics are consistent and attain goal. 

Coordinates plans for further development of existing and future programs to increase the output and efficiency of programmatic activities in keeping with demand for various kinds of food assistance.

In partnership with appropriate senior staff, coordinates efforts to evaluate the results of each area of operations, including activities that directly affect organizational risk and liability and systematically reports these results to the President/CEO.  Serves as point person for matters related to Emergency Network Los Angeles agreements, legal issues and City and County requirements as they pertain to contracts compliance.   

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or fifth year college or university program certificate. Master’s Degree preferred.  Minimum ten years of demonstrated high-level leadership success within a distribution environment preferred. 

Superb inter-personal, written, and oral communication skills required; must be able to influence and inspire change and manage relationships effectively.  Excellent leadership and presentation capabilities to cultivate external support and present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.  Strong skills and substantial experience in working with integrated inventory/accounting software to analyze and forecast operational and program performance and prepare budget and statistical reports.  

High level of proficiency to develop strategy and resolve tactical and practical problems.  Visionary attitude and high energy level with ability to drive results in a changing environment

Communications & Marketing Director

We're currently looking for a Communications & Marketing Director with experience in an active and varied environment. To succeed in this role the chosen candidate will possess:

-Solid communications, marketing and public relations experience to promote and increase Food Bank awareness in the community

Responsibilities

Lead the organization’s Communications Department including the development and implementation of effective strategies to increase visibility and fundraising at the Food Bank. Candidate responsible for managing the messaging and brand for the Food Bank internally and externally. This includes the design and execution of external communications, media relations, publications and collateral materials to enhance community awareness of the Food Bank’s programs and accomplishments. Also creates, issues and collects materials concerning the activities and associated fields of interest of the Food Bank. 

Proposes communications policies and procedures. Works within the Development Department on events, fundraising and campaigns 

Qualifications

Excellent written and oral interpersonal communications skills; ability to listen and evaluate opinions, suggestions, and recommendations of others; Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Outstanding desktop publishing skills; Self-starter who is able to work with a minimum of supervision; Ability to collaborate effectively with the members of the Development Team; Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing with minimum three (5) years’ experience in non-profit community/public relations; Strong knowledge and experience with social media and social networking, including Facebook and Twitter. Photography and videography experience also required; Familiarity with Southern California media outlets; Insured vehicle with valid California driver license.

Helpdesk Support

Job Type: Full Time Hourly
Reports to: Chief Information Officer
Shift: Monday-Friday
Location: Los Angeles

Principal Function
Helpdesk Support will troubleshoot and solve application issues and respond to end-user calls and e-mails. Will provide excellent customer service and communication skills to assist users and answer questions at various end-user skill levels.

Key Job Responsibilities
-Perform system back-up and maintenance procedures; Monitor completion of automated system processes
-Perform recovery procedures as directed; Assist in IT special projects as time permits
-Log all incidents and 
maintain help desk database
-Handle in bound calls and ensure customer satisfaction through entire transaction
-Respond to end-user calls and e-mails; Assist with set up of Desktop/Laptop accounts
-Install and/or maintain 
printers, copiers, and other office equipment
-Account for internal Office Equipment assigned to users
-Update 
cellphone accounts 

Requirements
-Experience with NAV2009 and Raiser’s Edge (preferred but not required)
-Experience with Windows 7 personal computers and Microsoft Office applications
-Minimum High School graduate with some college-level coursework in computer operating systems
-Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Sciences preferred 
-Experience with providing system support by telephone
-Be well organized and able to handle multiple tasks
-Ability to establish priorities effectively
-Must have excellent customer service skills and exceptional phone etiquette.
-Self-motivated individual with optimistic attitude
-Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
-Ability to work independently and with a group
-Able to communicate well (orally and written) in English
-Dependable in both production and attendance

Director of Major Gifts

Status: Salaried/ Exempt

Supervisor: Chief Development Officer


Principal Function
The Director of Major Gifts is part of the senior management team reporting to the Chief Development Officer and will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic development plan to substantially increase major gift revenue from individuals, including all activities related to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual major gifts prospects.

Principal Duties
-Identifies new major gift donor prospects and develops cultivation and solicitation strategies that build enduring relationships that lead to financial support
-Tracks progress through Raiser’s Edge and in regular meetings with the Chief Development Officer
-Identifies 
current donors with greater capacity and develops strategies for increasing giving levels through cultivation, outreach, recognition and events activities
-Identifies and cultivates planned giving prospects and develops strategies for gift planning opportunities, including 
a gift annuity program
-Works closely with other development staff including prospect research to increase the major gifts donor 
pool
-Works with the CEO and staffs the Board of Advisors to increase major gift opportunities and outreach
-Is involved in the 
cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts from members of the Advisory Board
-Creates involvement opportunities for 
major gifts donors, such as site visits, volunteer events, annual luncheons and special events
-Supervise development staff responsible 
for third party events and identify major gift opportunities from these events
-Track all interactions with donors and prospects using 
Raiser’s Edge
-Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
An earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; Eight to ten years of major gift fundraising experience with demonstrated ability to create and implement a viable, sustainable, and measurable development plan. Demonstrated leadership ability to create and nurture long-term relationships with major donors and prospects. Superior interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must be able to articulate the case for support, to interact professionally, and to inspire increased giving. Work experience must demonstrate the ability to plan strategically and to successfully guide/execute special events. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge).
Strong presentation skills including networking and public speaking; Superb organizational 
skills. Ability to work independently and at the same time be an engaged and supportive member of the Development team. Detail oriented; Insured vehicle with valid California driver license.

-Completion of advanced professional courses, seminars, or workshops that focus on best practices and the arts and principles of major gift fundraising and the fundraising process
