Help campaign
All season
long Trader Joe's will be donating $200 for every home run the Los
Angeles Dodgers make during their regular 2009 baseball season home
games.
The Foodbank is extremely grateful to be the beneficiary of this
campaign for the 2nd year in a row. Last year Trader Joe's
presented a check for $20,000 to the Foodbank.

‘Pay it Forward’ night is where
fans are encouraged to donate food items (canned food and other
non-perishable food) when they come to the game on August 6th.
Sparks staff will be on hand to collect such items from fans for the
Los Angeles Regional Foodbank prior to tip-off on Thursday, August
6th when the Sparks go head to head against conference rival, the
San Antonio Silver Stars.
Trader Joe’s commitment to the
community and the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank doesn’t stop with
‘Pay it Forward’ night as it also includes a donation of $75
(benefiting the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank) for each
three-pointer made by the Sparks at home games during the regular
season as part of
Hoops For Hunger. |

from the Bar
Food from the Bar is a project
involving law firms and legal offices in which participants can
contribute money, donate food, and/or volunteer time sorting and
packing food at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.
Sponsored by the Los Angeles County Bar Association and numerous
downtown LA law firms, this is the first year Los Angeles lawyers
are participating. Food from the Bar will help the Foodbank
distribute food to our neighbors who experience food insecurity and
need additional help as the summer approaches.

USPS and National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive
The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the United States
Postal Service are gearing up for their annual “Stamp Out Hunger “ food
drive. This food drive will help provide food to some of the one million
people in Los Angeles County who experience food insecurity and are
struggling to put food on the table for their families. The food drive
helps the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank and local charities bolster
their depleted inventories as the demand for food assistance continues
to rise faster than donated food supplies. Last year, the drive raised
over 71 million pounds of food nationally. |

Plaza. Feel the contagious rhythms and make music in the moment with

The Biggest Loser - Pound For Pound Challenge
You can help the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank
when you join General Mills, The Biggest Loser and Feeding America in the
Pound For Pound Challenge. Through the challenge, you can sign up at

your weight loss goals and lose some of those unwanted pounds. For every
pound lost until April 27, 2009, General Mills will donate 10 cents to
Feeding America.

Bruce Springsteen at the L.A. Sports Arena
As you may know, Bruce played twp shows at the Los
Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on Wednesday, April 15 and Thursday,
April 16. For each of these performances, he
offered the Foodbank VIP Ticket Packages for fundraising that included
prime seats and a meet and greet with Bruce. Thanks
to Boss and his fans, with their help we raised over $43,000 to help
fight hunger in Los Angeles County.

The
49th Annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration, the country's
largest multicultural holiday show, will be more than a feast for
the eyes and ears. Food joins music and dance as a source of
seasonal cheer as the 47 performing groups in the six-hour music and
dance spectacular are introduced by L.A.'s top celebrity chefs. The
host roster includes Border Grill's Susan Feniger; Vinny Dotolo and
Jon Shook (Animal) formerly of the Food Network; Akasha Richmond of
Culver City's Akasha; Kajsa Alger, executive chef of the
soon-to-open Street; Chef Jeff Henderson of the Food Network's Chef
Jeff Project; and Chef Lala, author of the just published "Best
Loved Mexican Cooking with Chef Lala." The chefs will share holiday
recipes from around the world via the show's web site,
www.holidaycelebration.org, so the audience can prepare them at home
during the LIVE broadcast of the Holiday Celebration on KCET.
Holiday Celebration attendees are invited to bring canned and
packaged goods to the Music Center the day of the show to support
the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.
