Help us distribute 1.5 million pounds of fresh
fruit and vegetables this year—and provide balanced, well-rounded meals for the hungry.
It won’t be easy to reach this 1.5 million pound
goal. That’s a lot of food! But we can do it, with your support. If
just 225 of our Partners renew their membership with a gift of
$1,000 or more, we can raise the $225,000 we need to meet this
important goal—and even exceed it.
It’s such an important thing to do in the fight
against hunger. Last year, our goal was to provide one million
pounds of food, and your response helped us exceed it! You
helped us nearly double the amount of fresh produce we were able to
provide in 2008.
For those who struggle every day to put anything
on their table, it’s extremely hard to afford nutritious food. In
fact, 66 percent of those who rely on us can’t afford to eat
balanced meals at all.
Bad nutrition hurts everyone. But children and
the elderly are most vulnerable. Little girls and boys need good,
quality food to grow and to learn. And seniors risk severe health
problems when they lack balanced diets.
That’s why we’re not just fighting hunger. We’re
fighting hunger with healthier food. And we need all of our Partners
to join us in this trying time!
Every Partner who
contributes $1,000 or more will be recognized
for their caring contribution to this cause:
• Your name will be
inscribed on our Partners Preventing Hunger wall
• You’ll be mentioned in our newsletter
• You’ll receive regular communications to keep you updated on
the
impact you’ve made
You already know the
Foodbank is the largest distributor of emergency food assistance in
Los Angeles County. And you can be assured that your generous gifts
will always be used to provide hungry children, seniors and families
with food that emphasizes nutrition. In fact, 74 percent of
the food we provide is now of high nutritional value.
Please give today and
help us meet our goal to provide 1.5 million pounds of fresh fruit
and vegetables to hungry neighbors in 2009.
